Marching for Freedom by award-winning author Elizabeth Partridge already has SIX STARRED REVIEWS and readers all over the country are connecting with this moving recount of the fight for the vote. Now students can get into the story even more, with a Google Lit Trip!
The author says:
Lit Trips use Google Earth to map out the story journey taken in books. Lit Trips founder, Jerome Burg, and I have collaborated on a Marching for Freedom Lit Trip. It's a great way to get proficient at Google Earth, while meeting teaching standards for technology, English, and history.
We've designed the site so students can explore notable people and places of Selma, then "fly" with the protesters on the march to Montgomery. We've pulled together quotes and photos and film clips I couldn't put in the book, and created an author strand for my comments. Full of questions for students that encourage critical thinking about their own values and actions.
