WHY I WROTE
DRAGON SLAYERS' ACADEMY

I taught 4th grade for several years and always had a few students who resisted reading. They loved the stories I read aloud to them – especially the funny ones – but when book-report time rolled around and I’d see them in the library, trolling the shelves for the skinniest books they could find.
I thought of those students years later when I began writing Dragon Slayers’ Academy. It was my hope that I could entice other reluctant readers with skinny books, then transport them to a world of Medieval mayhem with a hero to root for, a princess in disguise, a pig-Latin-speaking pig, a spell-challenged wizard, fire-breathing dragons, non-stop action, adventure, and really bad knock-knock jokes -- and keep 'em reading. I figured that by the time they finished the series, they’d be real readers and the thinness of the spine would no longer be the determining factor in choosing a book.
Nothing makes me happier than to hear from parents who tell me that their kids never liked reading until the school librarian put a DSA book into their hands, and now they're hooked. I also love hearing from parents and teachers who confess that they laugh out loud along with the kids while reading DSA.

The Cast of Dragon Slayer's Academy

Founders
Sir Herbert & Sir Ichabold

Sir Herbert and Sir Ichabold founded Dragon Slayers' Academy on a simple principle still held dear today: Any lad–no matter how weak, yellow bellied, lazy, pigeon-toed, smelly, or unwilling–can be transformed into a fearless dragon slayer who goes for the gold. After four years at DSA, lads will finally be of some worth to their parents, as a source of great wealth to their distinguished academy. * ** ***

* Please note that Dragon Slayers' Academy is a strictly-for-profit institution.

** Dragon Slayers' Academy reserves the right to keep some of the gold and treasure that any student recovers from a dragon's lair.

*** The exact amount of treasure given to a student's family is determined solely by our esteemed headmaster, Mordred. The amount shall be no less than 1/500th of the treasure and no more than 1/499th.
