Dear Reader Letter and Excerpt from Angela Knight's Master of Smoke

Dear Reader,

I'm very excited about the publication of my new novel, Master of Smoke. I really enjoyed writing the seventh book in the "Mageverse" series, which was inspired by my sister and her husband.

Like my sister, my heroine, Eva Roman, refuses to take herself too seriously. She's got a wicked sense of humor and a fondness for the eccentric customers of her comic book shop. Unlike my sister, she's also a werewolf.

When Eva senses an explosion of magic in the book's first chapter, she feels her abilities give her a responsibility to investigate. She finds herself rescuing a handsome Sidhe warrior who is being tortured by a powerful werewolf sorcerer.

The man she calls David doesn't remember why he's being hunted by werewolves, and he doesn't know why he has incredible magical abilities. But readers of last year's Master of Fire will remember him as Smoke, the shape-shifting cat partner of Giada Shepherd, that book's heroine.

Eva Roman has no way of knowing any of that , though. She names her new friend David because he's naked and handsome like a certain Italian statue—and because she can't think of a single superhero with the name David.

I had a ball writing Eva because of that wicked sense of humor, so much like my sister's. My comic book background inspired all kinds of jokes about comics and those who love them—like Chuck, my brother-in-law.

Chuck inspired my heroine's father (like me, my sister and her husband are a bit older than Eva). And like Chuck, Bob Roman wears Batman T-shirts and is very protective of his little girl.

Meanwhile, Warlock, the werewolf sorcerer villain of the arc, continues to close in, determined to kill Eva and Smoke/David.

I hope you'll find Master of Smoke as much fun to read as I did to write it.

Best,

Angela Knight
