HP Books

HP Books

HP Books, acquired as part of the purchase of Price Stern Sloan, originated in Tucson, Arizona as publishers of self-help and how-to books. Over the past two decades HP Books has been specializing in cooking, automotive and, most recently, crafting titles, publishing approximately twenty books a year.

HPAutomotive has been one of the leading publishers of performance, restoration, and racing guides for the automotive enthusiast since 1964. Among the longstanding bestsellers in the automotive line are Welder's Handbook by Richard Finch and Mustang Restoration Handbook by Don Taylor. HP has also been the primary publisher of books from the Source Interlink Media magazine group, publishers of Hot Rod Magazine and Truckin' Magazine among others.

HP cookbook standouts include Mable Hoffman's award-winning and bestselling Crockery Cookery, with more than five million copies sold, and Christina Pirello's Cooking the Whole Foods Way, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary in print with the release of a revised edition. Other recent successes for HP Books (and its Home imprint) include Donna Klein's Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen, Lisa Barnes's The Petit Appetit Cookbook, and Miyako Kanamori's Sock and Glove.

As of 2009, new acquisitions for HP will be exclusively in the automotive category as cooking and craft titles move to HP's sister imprint, Perigee.
