Send an email of no more than 500 words to Vikingpublicity@us.penguingroup.com telling us about your favorite part of The Audacity to Win (or something you learned from the book that you didn't know previously) or your experiences working on political campaigns, the 2008 Presidential election or politics in general. In addition, please provide three to five sample discussion questionswhich do not count toward the word limityou would want to ask David Plouffe, the author of The Audacity to Win. A qualified panel of judges chosen by Sponsor will anonymously select ten finalists' essays based on how enthusiastic and inspiring their stories are, and how interesting and original their questions are. David Plouffe will select the grand prize-wining entry, and the winner will get to host a Book Club discussion for The Audacity to Win and have David Plouffe appear to discuss the book and answer questions (Approximate Retail Value = $550.00).

Official Rules for the The Audacity to Win Book Club Discussion Contest

Open to residents of the Continental United States and the District of Columbia, ages 18 and older who are willing to host the discussion at a venue within one hour's driving distance of a commercial airport or train station.
How to Enter
- To enter the The Audacity to Win Book Club Discussion Contest (the "Contest"), entrants must submit via email an essay of no more than 500 words explaining why they would like to host a book club discussion with the book's author, David Plouffe (the "Author"). Subject matter can be, for example, entrants' favorite part of The Audacity to Win or entrants' experiences working on political campaigns, the 2008 presidential campaign or politics in general; in addition, three to five sample discussion questions entrants would want to ask the Author should be included. Entries must be sent to Vikingpublicity@us.penguingroup.com with the subject heading: "Win a book club discussion with David Plouffe, author of The Audacity to Win." Each entry must include the contestant's first and last name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number. To be eligible, all entries must be received no later than December 16, 2009, 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time. Limit one entry per person and per email account.
- Entries will not be returned. By entering the Contest, contestants agree to abide by these rules, and represent and warrant that the entries are their own and original creations, and do not violate or infringe the rights, including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights or rights of publicity/privacy, of any third party.
- Entries are void if they are in whole or in part illegible or incomplete. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, or misdirected e-mail entries.
- Viking, a division of Penguin Group (USA), Inc. ("Sponsor"), the Author and their parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies are not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the sender, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest which may limit the ability to play or participate, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of being conducted as described in these rules, Sponsor shall have the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. In the event of a dispute over the identity of an online entrant, entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized holder of the email account.
Judging
- On or about December 21, 2009, out of all eligible entries, a qualified panel of judges chosen by Sponsor will anonymously select ten finalists, based on how enthusiastic and inspiring their stories are and how interesting and original their sample discussion questions are, with equal weight given to each criterion. David Plouffe will then select the grand prize-wining essay from among the ten finalists.
- The decisions of the Sponsor with respect to the selection of the winner, and in regard to all matters relating to this Contest, shall be final.
- Winner will be notified via email and/or telephone.
Prize
- One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive the opportunity to host a book club discussion for The Audacity to Win, to be held no later than January 31, 2010 on a day and at a time mutually convenient for the Author and the winner. Sponsor will be responsible for all of the Author's travel and accommodations, including airfare, ground transportation, hotel and meals. Winner will be responsible for organizing, promoting and hosting the discussion. Venue and other elements of the discussion shall be at winner's choice; however, winner is responsible for any costs that may be incurred. Winner will also be required to hold the discussion at a venue within one hour's driving distance of a commercial airport or train station, and must confirm in writing to Sponsor within one week of the discussion date that a minimum of ten people have committed to attend. All attendees are encouraged to have read the book prior to attending the discussion. The Author will appear for approximately two hours at the book club discussion (Approximate Retail Value = $550.00).
- In the event that there is an insufficient number of qualified entries or if the Sponsor determines in its absolute discretion that no or too few entries meet the quality standards established to award the prize, Sponsor reserves the right not to award the prize.
Eligibility
- Open to residents of the Continental United States and the District of Columbia, ages 18 and older who are willing to host the discussion at a venue within one hour's driving distance of a commercial airport or train station.
- Employees of Sponsor and its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates, the Author or other parties in any way involved in the development, production or distribution of this Contest, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, children) and household members of each such employee and the Author are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
General
- No cash substitution, transfer or assignment of prize allowed. In the event of the unavailability of a prize or prizes, Sponsor may substitute a prize or prizes of equal or greater value.
- All expenses, including taxes (if any), related to receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
- Winner may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release. The Affidavit must be returned within fourteen (14) days of notification or winner will forfeit the prize and another winner will be selected. Should the ARV equal or exceed $600.00, winner shall be required to provide a Social Security Number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number to Sponsor for issuance of a 1099 Form.
- By accepting the prize the winner grants to Sponsor the right to edit, publish, copy, display and otherwise use his/her entry in connection with this Contest, and to further use his/her name, likeness, and biographical information in advertising and promotional materials, without further compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law.
- By participating in the Contest and/or accepting the prize, contestants release Sponsor, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies or the agencies of any of them and the Author from any liability, injury, damages, cost or expense, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or connected to participation in this contest or the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prizes.
- Any dispute arising from this Contest will be determined according to the laws of the State of New York, without reference to its conflict of law principles, and the entrants consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York County and agree that such courts have exclusive jurisdiction over all such disputes.
