I love bringing unusual characters to life. As a young child I spent time exploring castles, hiking in the woods of central France, and listening to Grimm's Fairy Tales at bedtime. I remember fondly the black and white illustrations in some of my favorite books, Ferdinand the Bull, Millions of Cats, Freddy the Pig, and others.

I love Eva Ibbotson's work. It seems to fit perfectly with so many of the images I have been bouncing around in my head, and it gives me the opportunity to draw in black and white, as my favorite childhood illutrators did.
