Kim Wayans
It wasn't until a few years ago that Kim went back to her childhood passion for creating and writing, when she left acting to become a writer/producer/director for the ABC hit family comedy, "My Wife and Kids." Kim has been a writer since the time she was a child in the fifth grade, and was asked to read her collection of children stories she had written to the first and second grade classes. Now she has come full circle with her new children's book series, Amy Hodgepodge. Kim has a great love for children and recently pitched in to help her brothers Shawn, Marlon and Keenen Ivory out by lending her voice to their new children's animated show, "The Boo Crew" where she plays the lead character, D-Roc's mother. Kim is currently starring in a one-woman play she wrote and produced called, "A Handsome Woman Retreats," which she plans on touring nationally. One of the personal and professional highlights of her life has been appearing on the Oprah Winfrey show in 2004. In her spare time, Kim is an avid reader, yoga practitioner and devoted auntie to many, many, nieces and nephews, some of whom helped to inspire the book series. Kim has been honored to speak at high schools across the country about the importance of education. She was invited to be the keynote speaker at "Girl's Rock," a symposium for underprivileged girls in New Mexico. There she spoke about what it means to be an empowered woman. In addition, she's also been a continual guest speaker at Camp Harmony. A summer camp for inner-city kids in Los Angeles, where she encourages children to strive to make their dreams come true.
