Ginjer Buchanan, editor to Charlaine Harris, brings us up-to-date on important events in the Sookieverse...

First off, there's exciting news about True Blood, the long-awaited Allan Ball HBO series based on the Sookie novels—after several shake-ups in the HBO bureaucracy, and the writer's strike which halted production after only three epis were ready, the series finally has an air date: September of this year. Charlaine reports that filming is proceeding apace, and that she hopes to be able to take Alan Ball up on his offer of a set visit/on screen cameo! She's also terrifically happy with the actor cast as Eric—Alexander Skaarsgard (son of Stellan). At 6"4", he certainly fits the bill as a blonde Viking!

She's also really looking forward to her own appearance as Guest of Honor at this year's Malice Domestic, a mystery convention held at the end of April in Virginia. In mystery circles, it is a very important thing to be so recognized, and Charlaine, who has been writing terrific mysteries for decades, is thrilled.

Last, but certainly not least, we are all excited about the publication of From Dead To Worse, the 8th in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I won't reveal any spoilers, but I will say that by the end of this book, life for Sookie and many of her friends, human and otherwise, has changed in drastic ways. Charlaine will be touring in support of the book.
