An Ordinary Man Selected for Middle Tennessee State University Summer Reading
Paul Rusesabagina's autobiography, An Ordinary Man, was Middle Tennessee State University's 2007 Summer Reading Selection, where the book was read by over 6,000 individuals. The Summer Reading Program, created in 2002, aims to provide a unifying experience for entering freshmen, give them the opportunity to read and interact with acclaimed authors and affirm the importance of reading for a successful and fulfilling life. Sidney A. McPhee, president of MTSU, said: "For our university community to have the opportunity to hear Mr. Rusesabagina, an 'ordinary man' with an extraordinary heart, at our annual Convocation is a blessing indeed. This ceremony is an assemblage and a celebration of who we are as a university and what we can accomplish together, and I can think of few people who epitomize that spirit of determination - of one person whose choices can help change the world - than this good man."
