Viking Acquires My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D. in a Competitive Auction

In a competitive auction, Viking has acquired My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., which will be published this coming Monday, May 12th.

Jill Bolte Taylor, recently named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, was a 37-year-old Harvard-trained and published brain scientist when a blood vessel exploded in her brain. Through the eyes of a curious neuroanatomist, she watched her mind deteriorate - she lost the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. Slowly, Jill fought her way to complete recovery aided by her understanding of how the brain works, her respect for the cells composing her human form, and an amazing mother. In My Stroke of Insight, Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., shares the insight she gained from having this ironic and unusual voyage into, and back out of, the silent abyss of the wounded brain.

Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., is a neuroanatomist who is affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine. She is the National Spokesperson for the Mentally Ill for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center (Brain Bank) and the Consulting Neuroanatomist for the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute (MPRI). Since 1993 she has been an active member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Jill Bolte Taylor will participate in Oprah Winfrey's "Soul Series" on "Oprah & Friends" Radio starting May 12th.

You can watch Jill Bolte Taylor tell her amazing personal story in this video on TED.com here.

I read "My Stroke of

I read "My Stroke of Insight" in one sitting - I couldn't put it down. I laughed. I cried. It was a fantastic book (I heard it's a NYTimes Bestseller and I can see why!), but I also think it will be the start of a new, transformative Movement! No one wants to have a stroke as Jill Bolte Taylor did, but her experience can teach us all how to live better lives. Her TED.com speech was one of the most incredibly moving, stimulating, wonderful videos I've ever seen. Her Oprah Soul Series interviews were fascinating. They should make a movie of her life so everyone sees it. This is the Real Deal and gives me hope for humanity

Oprah's 4 interviews with Jill Bolte Taylor

Oprah's 4 interviews with Jill Bolte Taylor were the first that Oprah did after Eckhart Tolle and they take everything Tolle talks about to another level. Oprah's copy of Jill's book, MY STROKE OF INSIGHT, was dog-eared and all marked up and kept reading from it the way she read from A New Earth and recommended it highly.

Oprah's recommendation was enough for me. I read My Stroke of Insight and I loved it too. This story is as inspiring as The Last Lecture or Tuesdays with Morrie - and even better, it has a Happy Ending!

I bought the book on Amazon because they have it for 40% off retail and they also had an amazing interview with Dr Taylor that I haven't seen anywhere else - Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/My-Stroke-Insight-Scientists-Personal/dp/067002074...

Book From My Stroke of Insight

I recommend Amazon as the place to get Jill Bolte Taylor's book MY STROKE OF INSIGHT because they have a wonderful interview with her on Amazon that offers new content I haven't seen anywhere else - that link is: http://www.amazon.com/My-Stroke-Insight-Scientists-Personal/dp/067002074...

The book is an absolutely wonderful journey by a brain scientist who suffered a stroke. She recovered fully, back to teaching at Medical School no less (and she gives great tips on how and what to do to recover from a Stroke or help others recover).

Dr Taylor also learned to fully be present in the part of the brain/mind where we experience full inner peace and Nirvana. SHe teaches that too, and that's why everyone should read this book.

This story is as inspiring as The Last Lecture or Tuesdays with Morrie - and it has a Happy Ending!
