FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:CHICAGO, IL – On Wednesday, November 14, 2007, Oprah revealed the 60th Oprah’s Book Club selection The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. She said, "It’s such a great read… it’s like nothing I would ever read or had ever read before… I got to 800 pages, and I slowed myself down because I didn’t want it to end.”
Set in 12th century England, The Pillars of the Earth is an epic tale about the struggle between good and evil during the quest to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has ever known. Published in 1989, the novel weaves passion, adventure and mystery in a saga that spans two generations and pits church against state and brother against brother.
Oprah's Book Club works with the American Library Association (ALA) to distribute thousands of free Book Club selections donated by each publisher, to school, public, and community college libraries nationwide.
