One of my favorite things about writing books like Kiss My Math is the happy emails I receive from my readers. I get messages from students, parents, teachers, aunts, uncles and grandparents who have bought the book for themselves or a loved one who is struggling in math, and the success stories are amazing.
I love hearing from parents how I've made homework time less stressful, or how the books have given teachers new ideas for making lesson plans easier and more fun!
Here are some of my favorite emails from students. I get so many of these every day, and they make me so happy - it never, ever gets old and I know it never will.
One of my favorite things about emails from teenagers is the hyperbole. The extra exclamation points, the saving of lives - it's just adorable and I love it.
Your book "Kiss My Math" saved my life! I'm in algebra in the eighth grade and your book covers it all. I have hated math all my life and now I am enjoying math class! Thank you so much!!

Adorable, right?
I love "Kiss My Math"! A few days ago I was crying while I was doing math. My mom came over and told me that I shouldn't worry and that I'll get it, and the cool thing is, I was crying because I did get it. I was just so happy! Thank you, Danica!! So much!!

That email made ME cry. I used to cry because of not understanding my math homework, too, and just knowing that I could help her so much was amazing!!
...then again, maybe I just cry easily.
Recently we had a quiz and I was positively terrified of my grade because the class before us was walking out saying that the average was a D! Mine was the last one. I took a deep breath as the teacher handed it to me. My heart was beating so fast. I glanced at the paper where a number was circled in a red correcting pen: 95%!! I smiled so hard that I almost laughed! She asked me where I knew all of the material from and I said "Class... and one amazing book called KISS MY MATH. It gives really cool methods on algebra." I handed it to her, and she asked me if she could borrow it to look through! I am so proud of myself to have come that far in math. I can't believe what happened to me. You are an amazing person that can make magic. Just one request: keep writing your books!

See what I mean about being inspired to keep writing! And lemme tell ya, sometimes when I look at the clock at 4am and I'm still going... this is exactly why.
I just wanted to thank you all so much, and to remind you that if you are a student struggling with a math problem - please email me! It can be challenging for me to answer all my emails right away, but the ones from kids needing help on a specific math problem are definitely my priority.
I love seeing reviews on the Barnes & Noble and Amazon websites, and I treasure the emails I get. It means so much to me, because when I write my books, it's just me and my laptop. Feedback from readers makes it so much more real that what I'm doing is teaching - one of the most amazing feelings in the world.
THANK YOU!
Cheers,
Danica
P.S. Please allow me to take a quick moment to also thank everyone who emails me about their yoga successes with Daily Dose of Dharma DVD!
