On the hardcover fiction list, The Help by Kathryn Stockett (Amy Einhorn Books/ Putnam) is #3 in its 25th week; Spartan Gold by Clive Cussler with Grant Blackwood (Putnam) is #6 in its third week; Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris (Ace) is #8 in its 20th week; and Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan (Berkley) is #11 in its third week.
On the hardcover nonfiction list, Shooting Stars by LeBron James and Buzz Bissinger (The Penguin Press) is #9 in its second week; The Healing of America by T.R. Reid (The Penguin Press) is #11 in its fourth week; and Traveling with Pomegranates by Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor (Viking) is #15 in its second week.

Berkley/ NAL sets a new record-breaking industry bestseller performance on the New York Times mass market bestseller list. For the week of October 4th, 12 out of 20 titles are from Berkley/ NAL - an amazing 60% of the list, and a new record-breaking industry best performance. In addition, Berkley also holds the #1 slot once again: Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell (Berkley) is at #1 for the third consecutive week (four weeks overall). Other titles to occupy slots include: Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs (Ace) at #13 in its fourth week; Storm of Shadows by Christina Dodd (Signet) at #16 in its third week, Rough Weather by Robert B. Parker (Berkley) at #17 in its third week; and Mounting Fears by Stuart Woods (Signet) at #18 in its second week. The Help by Kathryn Stockett continues its phenomenal run on the New York Times bestseller list, holding in the #3 position for the week of October 4th. Consistently in the top 5, the book is the longest-running title currently on the hardcover fiction list, where it has stayed for over six months. The Help currently has over 660,000 copies in print after 33 printings, and with school is back in session, is beginning to find a whole new audience of readers. This week, Kathryn appeared at Brenau University in Georgia for their first year experience program, where she spoke to students and faculty about the novel. She is also corresponding with a freshman writing class at High Point Univerisity in North Carolina. As reported last week, the book is a great success internationally as well: foreign rights have been sold in 26 countries already, a major accomplishment for a debut novel.
