Penguin Group (USA) Continues to Have the #1 Bestselling Hardcover Fiction Title, Leading a Great Week on the New York Times Bestseller Lists

The Help by Kathryn Stockett (Amy Einhorn Books/ G. P. Putnam’s Sons) is #1 on The New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list for the fourth consecutive week – the first time a Putnam title has achieved a four-week run at the top of this list since September of 2001, when Clive Cussler matched this feat with Valhalla Rising. There are more than 1.75 million copies of The Help in print and the book has now been on The New York Times bestseller list for 44 weeks.

The hardcover division had an additional eight titles on the fiction and nonfiction besteller lists, including one debut. Linchpin by Seth Godin (Portfolio) entered the hard-to-crack hardcover advice, how-to and miscellaneous list at #10.

On the trade paperback side, seven titles appear on the bestseller lists, led by Food Rules by Michael Pollan (Penguin) which remained at #1 for the fourth consecutive week on the paperback advice, how-to, & miscellaneous list, The Piano Teacher by Janice Y. K. Lee (Penguin), which was featured in an Associated Press article last week, and Greg Mortenson’s Three Cups of Tea (Penguin), which has been on the trade paperback list for 157 weeks!

On the mass market list, the Berkley/NAL Group has three debuts. Hot Rocks by Nora Roberts (Jove) (which story continues in Big Jack by J.D. Robb (Berkley), out this March), Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs (Ace), and The Silent Man by Alex Berenson (Jove).

And in the young readers division continued its presence on the various children's lists, led by Otis written and illustrated by Loren Long (Philomel), on the children's picture books list in its 12th week.

The New York Times Bestseller Highlights for the February 14th

Four new debuts for Penguin Group (USA) on the New York Times bestseller list for the week of February 14th: Hot Rocks by Nora Roberts (Jove), Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs (Ace), and The Silent Man by Alex Berenson (Jove) debut at #2, #9, #12 respectively on the mass market bestseller list; and Linchpin by Seth Godin (Portfolio) debuts at #10 on the hardcover advice, how-to and miscellaneous list.

Here are more New York Times bestseller highlights:

On the hardcover fiction list, The Help by Kathryn Stockett (Amy Einhorn Books/ Putnam) remains at #1 in its 44th week; Kisser by Stuart Woods (Putnam) is #3 in its second week; The First Rule by Robert Crais (Putnam) is #5 in its third week; and The Wolf at the Door by Jack Higgins (Putnam) is #11 in its second week.

On the hardcover nonfiction list, Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert (Viking) is #4 in its fourth week; Stones into Schools by Greg Mortenson (Viking) is #7 in its ninth week; Drive by Daniel Pink (Riverhead) is #14 in its fourth week; and Too Big to Fail by Andrew Ross Sorkin (Viking) is #15 in its twelfth week.

On the trade paperback fiction list, The Piano Teacher by Janice Y.K. Lee (Penguin) is #14 in its eleventh week.

On the mass market paperback list, Black Ops by W.E.B. Griffin (Jove) is #17 in its fifth week

On the paperback nonfiction list, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin (Penguin) is #3 in its 157th week; Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (Penguin) is #6 in its 156th week; and In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan (Penguin) is # 7 in its 34th week; and The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan (Penguin) is # 9 in its 122nd week.

On the paperback advice, how-to and miscellaneous list, Food Rules by Michael Pollan (Penguin) remains at #1 in its fifth week; and The Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half by Stephanie Nelson (Avery) is #10 in its fourth week.

In the young readers sector, on the children's picture books list, Otis written and illustrated by Loren Long (Philomel) is #9 in its twelfth week. On the children’s paperback books list, Three Cups of Tea: Young Readers Edition by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin (Puffin) is #4 in its 54th week; On the children’s series list, Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan (Philomel) is #6 in its 37th week.
