Penguin Group is the Premier Sponsor of the 2009 PEN World Voices Festival

Penguin Group is the premier sponsor of the 2009 PEN World Voices Festival, taking place next week, April 27th – May 3rd, 2009 in New York City. The festival is the largest celebration of international literature ever produced in the United States. Each year, the PEN America Center brings more than 100 authors to New York for approximately 70 events all around the city in an effort to promote international literature and to address American cultural insularity.

This year, Penguin Group has fifteen authors who are scheduled to participate: Paul Auster, Sebastian Barry, Ian Buruma, Joseph Boyden, Niall Ferguson, Philip Gourevitch, Jessica Hagedorn, A.M. Homes, Marlon James, Mark Kurlansky, Nick Laird, Walter Mosley, Jeffrey Sachs and Anya Ulinich.

Great Media Lineup for Viking’s Closing Time

Joe Queenan, author of just-published memoir Closing Time (Viking), got off to a great start this week with an incredible interview with Scott Simon of NPR’s “Weekend Edition". An excerpt in The New York Times Education Life Section, in addition to reviews from The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, San Francisco Chronicle, and a rave review from Jonathan Yardley of The Washington Post. Still to come: many radio interviews throughout the country, as well as reviews from The New York Times Book Review, The Wall Street Journal and The Boston Globe and a feature in USA Today.

Hudson Street Press Author Carla Harris Enjoys Successful Events

Carla Harris, author of Expect to Win: Proven Strategies for Success from a Wall Street Vet (Hudson Street Press), has had a number of well-attended and successful off-site events. Most recently, Harris, a managing director at Morgan Stanley, spoke this past weekend at the Annual Conference for the Women's Ministry of the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York in Philadelphia, PA. Carla participated in two one-hour workshops during the conference in which she offered her pearls for climbing the corporate ladder. Joseph Fox Bookshop of Philadelphia sold a total of 250 copies of Expect to Win at the event.
