Fred Vargas' The Chalk Circle Man Wins the Crime Writer's Association International Dagger Award

Penguin author Fred Vargas and translator Sîan Reynolds have triumphed in the International Dagger for the third time in four years, winning the Crime Writer's Association International Dagger for The Chalk Circle Man, a Penguin mystery original, the first of her Commissaire Adamsberg series released in the U.S. The CWA Dagger Awards celebrate the very best in crime and thriller writing, and are the longest established literary awards in the UK. These premier awards in crime fiction are recognized internationally as a mark of excellence.

Fred Vargas's Commissaire Adamsberg's mysteries are #1 bestsellers in France, and they are quickly becoming an international sensation. Marilyn Stasio of The New York Times says "Vargas is such a dazzling stylist that her unorthodox plot and eccentric characters keep us enthralled," and Entertainment Weekly says "Anyone who enjoys kooky characters and intricate detail will happily follow Vargas along."
