HP Books, acquired as part of the purchase of Price Stern Sloan, originated in Tucson, Arizona as publishers of nonfiction books in the categories of cooking, automotive, photography, gardening, health and child care. HP Books now specializes in cooking and automotive titles, publishing approximately twenty books a year. Among the stars of this list, Mable Hoffman's Crockery Cookery recently celebrated its twenty-fifth year in print with more than five million copies sold and Christina Pirello’s Cooking the Whole Foods Way, which will celebrate its 10 anniversary in print with a comprehensively revised edition.

In 2006 HPBooks established a new imprint, Home, to publish books on cooking, crafts and creative lifestyle. The first books to be published under the new imprint were: Harumi’s Japanese Cooking by Harumi Kurihara (also known as Japan’s Martha Stewart); Re-creative: 50 Projects for Turning Found Items into Contemporary Design by Steve Dodds, and Lesley Lindsey’s Weekend Quilts.
