How My Private Personal Journal Became a Bestseller

Formerly ordinary fourteen-year-old Jamie Bartlett isn't so ordinary anymore. Ever since she wrote a story about Isabella (aka IS), the stereotype-defying, popular-girl-crushing super teen, Jamie's life hasn't been the same. Suddenly she's doing interviews and book signings, flying to L.A. to hang out with celebrities, and dating Marco Vega, the hottest guy in school! But will all of this attention go to Jamie's head? Or will she take a lesson from IS and remember that there's more to life than popularity?

High school freshman's manuscript sells to Parker Press following a frenzied bidding war. According to a Parker spokesperson, the manuscript by Whittaker High School student Jameson Bartlett will be the lead title on its summer list. . . . I dropped the pager on the desk.
Buzzing, my head is buzzing. . . .
"I think she's going to pass out!" I vaguely heard Malik say. "Stand back, everybody!"
"Jamie, breathe!" Harmony said.
Breathe. Breathe. Book. Sold. Lead. Title. Jameson. Bartlett. Me. Breathe.
So, yes, well. That was how I found out that I was about to be a published author. I got more details in the principal's office. Principal Litagaki and Miss Gallagher were in the office, jumping up and down. No, seriously, you never would have known it was a principal and an English teacher. They looked like they were trying out for Poms. They gave me the scoop. The agent had sent my story to some big publishing companies. They got all excited over it. They had an instant bidding war, which is what happens when more than one publisher wants to buy your book. So there I was in school all day, worrying about gym, not knowing I was involved in some publishing battle. I felt kind of like Helen of Troy.
Un. Be. Lievable.

"Wonderful fun! Aspiring novelists will love it." (Meg Cabot, author of the Princess Diaries series) "It's chick lit at its most fun: delightful, wild, and funny, with just enough jolts of reality to touch your heart." (Francine Pascal, author of the Fearless and Sweet Valley High series)
