Professor Azim Nanji is director of the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) in London. Nanji has taught in academic institutions in the US and Canada and was formerly professor and chair of the Department of Religion at the University of Florida. He has published numerous articles and co-authored and edited several books including Mapping Islamic Studies and The Muslim Almanac. He sits on the editorial board for The Encyclopaedia of Religion. He is the author of the Penguin Dictionary of Islam.
