Shobhaa De was born in Maharashtra in 1948 and was educated in Delhi and Bombay. She is a freelance writer and columnist for several newspapers and magazines including The Times of India, The Statesman and The Sunday Observer. She is also the author of Spouse, Socialite Evenings, Sultry Days, Speedpost and Sisters. Her latest novel is Bollywood Nights (Penguin, 2007).
