Alex Kapranos

Alex Kapranos is the singer and guitarist of Franz Ferdinand. Before the success of the band, he spent over a decade jumping between stints as a chef, wine waiter, kitchen porter, delivery driver, welder, promoter, college lecturer and doley layabout: anything to generate the cash that his bands didn’t.

Sound Bites, a collection of articles featuring his experiences of food while on tour around the world (originally published in the Guardian), is published by Penguin (2006).
