“Curious fun” are words used by essayist and travel writer Jan Morris to describe the writings of John Robert Colombo. The author, compiler, editor, or translator of over 180 books, Colombo has an insatiable curiosity for bits of lore and learning that shed light on what it means to be a Canadian and hence what it means to be a reflective person and thoughtful citizen of the world. Some of his recent publications include The Penguin Book of Popular Canadian Poems and Songs and The Penguin Dictionary of Popular Canadian Quotations. He holds an honorary doctorate from York University and is a Member of the Order of Canada.
