ARTHUR S. BARD, M.D., is the former chief of neurosurgery at Mercy and SutterHospitals (and a staff neurosurgeon for 30 years) and a past president of the Sacramento (CA) Neurological Society. He helped establish the neurosurgery residency program at the University of California Davis School of Medicine and then served as a clinical assistant professor at the medical school for many years.
