More About Martha Beck

Martha Beck earned a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in sociology from Harvard. Martha was a business consultant for six years, a researcher at the Harvard Business School, and a professor at the International School of Business, before becoming a Life Coach and founding Life Design, Inc., a life coaching firm that helps hundreds of clients redirect their careers and lifestyles.

Martha left academia behind and embraced change with the birth of her son Adam, who has Down’s syndrome -- an experience that inspired her first book Expecting Adam. She is also the author of Finding Your Own North Star.

In addition to her active career, Martha is the mother of three children, and copes with disability (her own and her son's). She lives in Arizona with her husband, three children, her best friend Karen, and her beagle, Cookie.
