Belinda Hurmence was born in
Oklahoma and educated mainly in Texas, where her family moved when she was nine.
Her first novel for young readers, Tough Tiffany, was published in 1980 and was
an ALA Notable Children's Book. Her other books include A Girl Called Boy,
winner of the Parents' Choice Award, and Tancy, winner of the Golden Kite
Award.
Ms. Hurmence lives with her husband in Raleigh, North Carolina, near their
daughter and her family.
