Mark Kurlansky is the New York Times-bestselling and James A. Beard Award-winning author of many books, including The Food of a Younger Land; Cod: A Biography of the Fish That Changed the World; Salt: A World History; 1968: The Year That Rocked the World; The Big Oyster: History on the Half Shell; The Last Fish Tale: The Fate of the Atlantic and Survival in Gloucester, America's Oldest Fishing Port and Most Original Town; and Nonviolence: The History of a Dangerous Idea, as well as the novel Boogaloo on 2nd Avenue. He lives in New York City.
